Young Vietnamese footballers enjoy themselves with Linda Hamilton and coach Lisa Berg during the training session in the framework of Sports Envoys programme in Hà Nội on Tuesday.

Hamilton coached Vietnamese footballers on speed and passing, while Berg trained goalkeepers.

Hamilton said Việt Nam’s players are very talented. They have speed, skill and bravery. She believed if Vietnamese footballers receive support, they will greatly improve.

Hamilton and Berg will have another training session with footballers in the northern province of Sơn La today and tomorrow. Then they will travel to Đà Nẵng and HCM City on April 22-28.

The Sport Envoys programme is a global sports mentoring programme of the US Department of State. It mobilises professional athletes, coaches and administrators in a range of sports to engage underserved youth, particularly girls. The programme sends approximately 40 envoys around the world each year.
