Mikado Nam Dinh have knocked Da Nang from their top place on the V-League ladder with a 1-0 win over Khatoco Khanh Hoa at home ground Thien Truong Stadium.

Striker Pham Xuan Phu scored the only goal in the 82nd minute. But only one goal was needed to help Nam Dinh accumulate the 28 points to lead the table, as Da Nang suffered a 2-0 loss to Binh Duong at Thu Dau Mot Stadium yesterday, dropping to third place.

In other matches, Pisico Binh Dinh”s Ejife Smart Oztite made a perfect hat trick to crush defending champions Gach Dong Tam Long An 3-1 at Quy Nhon Stadium.

The central team leaped from fifth place to second place with 27 points.

At Vinh Stadium, former V-League champions Pjico Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) tied with Southern Steel-Sai Gon Port (TMN-CSG) 1-1 to remain at 10th place on the table.

Sai Gon Port took the lead in the 36th minute when De Jesus opened the score for the Southern team. But national striker Le Cong Vinh, who has not scored a goal in nine consecutive matches, finally found the net during second half injury time, saving his team from a loss at home.

The draw kept TMN-CSG at second-last place with 17 points, ahead of Pomina Steel Tien Giang, who lost to Ha Noi-ACB 2-1 at Ha Noi”s Hang Day Stadium yesterday.

Tien Giang, who were promoted to the V-League last year, face potential relegation thanks to the team”s bottom ranking with 14 points.

At Pleiku Stadium, Thai striker and coach of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Kiatisuk Senamuang found the net just 21 minutes into the game, gaining a win for the central highlands team, who are in the middle of the table.

Spectators at all matches during the 18th round of play in the V-League observed a minute”s silence in memory of victims of Typhoon Chanchu, many of whom were from central region provinces.
