Prime Minister Phan Van Khai praised the Vietnamese under-23s after their third consecutive victory, beating Myanmar 1-0, to become the first team to go through to the semifinals of the 23rd SEA Games as leaders of the Group B, Group of Death.”

The Sports Daily quoted Minister and Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Sports and Physical Education Nguyen Danh Thai as saying the prime minister hailed the competitive spirit of the under-23s and encouraged them to continue their winning streak. The prime minister noted that the cadres, coaches and players of the under-23 team should care for their physical and mental strength so as to get ready for the upcoming difficult semi-finals.

The newspaper reported that Minister Thai decided to award VND 50 million after their victory over Myanmar.

The prime minister”s praise and the award by the minister and chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Physical Education and Sports show the care of the Government and the physical education and sport service, so it will encourage the Vietnamese under-23s and the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 23rd SEA Games to make inspiring achievements for their homeland.
