U19 Vietnam play an overwhelming match against U19 Hoang Anh Gia Lai.

It took only six minutes for Vietnam to get ahead, with Danh Trung taking advantage of a defensive mistake of the Gia Lai team to fire in the opener.

After the early deficit, Gia Lai put up the offensive pressure but few opportunities were created for them, even when the national squad played with just ten men on field following Van Xuan’s red card in the 30th minute.

Four minutes after the hour mark, the lineup disparity was canceled out as Hoang Anh Gia Lai’s Trung Nghia was shown a red card and sent off.

Given that fact, it came as no surprise when U19 Vietnam scored two additional goals thanks to Van Cong and Xuan Kien in the 65th and 79th minutes.

The Gia Lai team also managed to earn a consolation with Bao Toan successful on the penalty spot in the 68th minute.

The third consecutive victory has ensured U19 Vietnam a place in the final match, while U19 Hoang Anh Gia Lai must beat U19 Myanmar in the remaining game to advance into the finals.

The tournament is taking place from April 11 to 22 with the participation of five teams, including U19 Vietnam, U19 Hoang Anh Gia Lai, U19 Gwangju, U19 Chinese Taipei and U19 Myanmar.

The participants are competing in a round robin format which will decide the top two teams for the final match and the next two for the third-place playoff. The overall champions will receive US$10,000 in prize money, while stakes of US$6,000, US$4,000 and US$2,000 will be rewarded to the next three teams, respectively.
