Vietnamese clubs exited the AFC Champions League after suffering defeats on May 3 in the group stage.

In Long An, hosts Dong Tam Long An lost 4-2 to Shanghai Shenhua. The Chinese clube twice came from behind before sealing a 4-2 victory to qualify for second leg after it had won the first leg in China 3-1 on March 8.

Dong Tam Long An took the lead in the 29th minute through Antonio Rodrigues before Gao Lin equalized just before half time.

The V-League champions then reclaimed the lead in the 61st minute through Fabio dos Santos but goals from Yu Tao four minutes later and Li Chengming (a brace in the 90th and 93rd minutes) put Shenhua in the last eight.

Group G proved a cakewalk for Shenhua following the expulsion of Indonesia’s Persipura Jayapura and Provincial Electrical Authority of Thailand, leaving just two teams.

Another Vietnamese club, Da Nang lost 1-0 to their Chinese hosts Dailian Shide.
