2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship: Thailand claims the top spot in the group stage

With the advantage of a rest period to recover their stamina, the Thailand women’s futsal team appeared very energetic in their match against the Vietnam women’s futsal team this afternoon. Throughout the match, the opponents tried every possible way to wear down the Vietnam women’s futsal team before their final match on November 21.

Mean while, with a tight schedule of 5 matches in 5 days, the Vietnam women’s futsal team had to carefully manage their lineup in the match that only determined the first and second place in the group stage, in order to conserve energy for the important final against Thailand at 18:00 tomorrow (November 22). In this match, the Vietnam women’s futsal team arranged their players strategically, giving rest to key players and offering opportunities for those who had played less to test themselves against Thailand. This allowed the Thailand futsal team to take a more dominant position. In the 16th minute, Jenjira made a cross for Arriya to tap the ball into the net, opening the scoring. A minute later, Sangrawee fired a low shot that caused a player and the goalkeeper of the Vietnam women’s futsal team to lose their balance, unable to stop the ball, and the score was increased to 2-0.

In the second half, Thailand continued to dominate. In the 26th minute, after a quick combination in the center, Sawitree made a low shot to score Thailand’s third goal, which also became the final result of the match.

Thus, Thailand finished the group stage with 4 straight wins, securing first place. The Vietnam women’s futsal team came in second with 9 points (3 wins, 1 loss). The two teams will meet again in the final, scheduled for 18:00 on November 21.
