Do Hong Tien opened the scoring for HCM City on 16 minutes, receiving a clean pass and beating goalkeeper Hoang Thi Bang, before Hong Nga doubled the advantage with a powerful shot from just outside the box.
The victory put HCM City on top of the standings with 16 points, ahead of Ha Tay who were held to a 1-1 draw by Ha Nam in an earlier match.
Ha Tay took the lead through Le Thi Oanh”s late 74th minute goal only to see Vu Thi Anh score the equaliser three minutes from time. They are a point behind HCM City and three clear of third-placed Ha Nam. Hanoi are in fourth a point behind Ha Nam.
