Eighth round of V-League: Dong Tam Long An crush defending champions 3-0

Defending champions Binh Duong on March 7 suffered ancrushing 3-0 defeat in their match against Dong Tam Long An, one of the two early matches of the eighth round of V-League 2008. 

Nam Dinh stopped Haiphong’s unbeaten run

Hosts Binh Duong gave Dong Tam Long An a competitive match, however they wasted many opportunities. In an attack in the 36th minute, captain Phan Van Tai Em jumped highest and scored a strong headergiving Dong Tam Long An the lead.

In the second half, players of Dong Tam Long An continued their fast paced game, launching rapid attacks. The guests’ second goal also came from Tai Em’s excellent performance. He broke through the left wing after a long distance pass and raced to the penalty area where he was fouled by Quang Thanh. Dong Tam Long An’s Antonio Carlos put the penalty away.

Dong Tam Long An continued to dominate the game in the last minutes and marked their 3-0 victory from another penalty scored by goalkeeper Santos in the added time.

It was the fifth loss of the reigning champions. They dropped one place with eight points after nine matches while Dong Tam Long An jumped to fourth place with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Haiphong’s unbeaten run was broken by hosts Nam Dinh who took the lead in the 24th minute after a close header by Darlington. Following that, Nam Dinh played some excellent football, forcing Haiphong into the defensive situation. In the 41st minute, Duc Duong received a half-way pass from Emmanuel, going through both defenders and goalkeeper to score another goal for Nam Dinh.

Elenildo narrowed the gap for Haiphong in the 82nd minute, however the match ended 2-1 score. Haiphong’s defeat is an opportunity for Southern Steel Saigon Port and The Cong to take the top position tomorrow.
