A lone goal by Nguyen Thi Huong at the 78th minute in the final match against Myanmar was enough to earn Vietnam the Southeast Asian women”s football championship on three consecutive wins.
With the win, Vietnam claims regional bragging rights as the first team in history to hold both the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games and the Southeast Asian women”s football championship titles.
This year”s tournament, held in Ho Chi Minh City, drew four national teams: Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam in a round-robin competition for the championship.
Taipei and Thailand both have 4 points with one win, one draw and one loss, placing second and third respectively, with Myanmar anchored to the bottom with zero points on three losses.
