Division 1 Quang Ninh Coal go clear, Van Hoa Haiphong end disappointing run

Elsewhere, Van Hoa Haiphong ended their run of three games without a win, beating Military Region Four 1-0.

 

In Long Xuyen, An Giang beat Thanh Nghia Quang Ngai 3-1 to remain third in the table. However, the victory was marred by referee Pham Ba Hoa.

 

Thanh Nghia Quang Ngai took a 1-0 lead through a goal by Minh Cuong, but match exploded minutes from half-time when striker Cong Danh kick the face of goalkeeper Kien Phuc, who left the stadium in an ambulance car.

 

Then a member of the coaching staff of Thanh Nghia Quang Ngai attacked a medical worker but the referee ignored the incident. The game was interrupted while the incident was settled. When it resumed, the referee did not add injury time.

 

In the second half, the decisions made by referee Hoa favoured of the hosts, who finally won 3-1 with goals by Cong Danh, Dio Preye and Nhat Truong.

 

Quang Ninh Coal extended their unbeaten run to ten matches after a 1-0 victory over visiting Dong Nai with Samson being the scorer.

 

The victory helped Quang Ninh Coal go clear on top with 24 points, two points clear of The Cong Viettel, who were surprisingly held by struggling Da My Nghe Saigon.

 

The Cong Viettel, who stood neck-and-neck with Quang Ninh Coal last week, earned a point from their visit to Da My Nghe Saigon.

Van Nam opened the scoring for the visitors four minutes from the interval but Ngoc Bao helped the hosts share the spoils with an equaliser on 71 minutes.

 

In Haiphong, hosts Van Hoa Haiphong put an end to their disappointing run with a 1-0 victory over Military Region Four. Ngoc Thanh broke the deadlock, sealing a crucial victory for the hosts. A week earlier, Van Hoa Haiphong surprisingly went down 2-0 to Military Region Five.
