Midfielder Tran Thi Hai Linh drew first blood with her goal on six minutes before the match went into the break without further results for both sides.
The second half proved to be more exciting as Myanmar equalised through Htet Htet Cho four minutes after the interval but Vietnam regained the lead as substitute defender Pham Dieu Linh scored on 53 minutes.
Defender Lan Anh then scored after 63 minutes empathically winning the game for Nguyen Tien Minh’s side.
Vietnam were the champions in the inaugural edition last year and went into the tournaments as favourites but the tide turned against them during their group stages tie against the Philippines.
The Filipinas finished fourth last year but this edition round upset Vietnam 1-0 in Group A’s penultimate round despite the Vietnamese opening their campaign strongly with an 8-0 win over Cambodia.
Last year’s third-place winners Myanmar finished fourth in this year’s edition which saw seven nations taking part as opposed to only six teams previously.
