15/9/2009: Opening ceremony of Vietnam Football Federation’s Congress Term 6th

Until this time, the Preparatory committee of 6th VFF’s Congress is actively completing the final preparations, ensuring the success of congress in all aspects. On behalf of the Executive Committee of VFF Term 5, President Nguyen Trong Hy also signed an invitation to 38 members of the Executive Committee of VFF Term 5 and 73 Local Football Federations and Football Clubs who have completed the procedures to join VFF.

The Executive Committee of VFF also respectfully sent the invitation to Leaders of authorities, sport units, associations, former players, sponsors and relevant units.

The Congress also has the presence of Presidents, Vice-presidents of VFF for the term 1989 – 2005. Especially, in order to recognise the contributions of individuals who have devoted time to the development of Vietnamese football, the Congress also has the presence of people who were awarded by AFC during the Term V.

Besides, the 6th VFF’s Congress was also honored to welcome the General Secretary of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Alex Soosay and many international guests who are the representatives of Football Federations of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.

Otherwise, the representatives of foreign press and news agencies based in Vietnam will also be offered the media cards to work at Congress.

Now, the Preparatory Committee completed the preparation of Congress documentations, released the yearbook “Vietnamese Football 20 years of innovation, integration and development”, collabed with Sports Magazine of General Department of Sports and Physical Training to release the specific number for the occasion of VFF’s Congress Term VI and 20 years anniversary of VFF establishment. Sports Newspaper – the VFF’s official newspaper – have also focused on communicating about this important event from the beginning of October.

In the spirit of “Convergence of wisdom, solidarity and development”, the Congress will elect the Executive Committee of VFF term VI with 21-23 members from the list of 36 candidates. After that, the Congress will elect the key positions: President, Vice-president, Head of Inspection Committee, and approve the Resolution of Congress. According to the regulations, only 73 delegates of Congress will have the right to vote, including the representatives of V.League, V.League 2, National Championship Division 2 Clubs, women’s football, Futsal and Football Federation members.

Particularly, the President of VFF will appoint the position of General Secretary after it has been approved by the Executive Committee in the first meeting of Term VI, which will be operating after the closing ceremony.

It is expected that at 18h00 on the same day, VFF will hold a press conference to announce the results of the congress.

VFF believes that the 6th VFF’s Congress will truly become the most representative forum with the most intellectual decisions and the highest responsibility for the development of Vietnamese football.
