Hai is new VFF president
Lê Khánh Hải has been voted president of the Việt Nam Football Federation for the 2018-22 term.
Hải, who is currently Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, took the post after a 15-hour meeting on Saturday in Hà Nội.
He will be assisted by three deputies and 13 members of the executive board.
Lê Hoài Anh will continue as General Secretary for the new term.
“My elected colleagues and I are happy and proud to receive people’s respect and trust to take the lead for the upcoming term,” Hải said to reporters. “The new board will bring into play what we have been doing and push the development of our football to new heights while solving all remaining problems.”
“Our plan is for Việt Nam to be in the top 10 Asian teams by 2030, and to grab a berth in the World Cup in 2026,” Hải said. “We have to work very hard for these targets. Of course, I am under heavy pressure because football receives great attention from fans all over the nation. But it is also strong encouragement. Along with a generation of talented players, Vietnamese football will have a firm foundation to grow faster.”
