The first AFC Referees Committee meeting of 2009 was held here on Monday, with Members determined to work hard to continue raising the standards of refereeing in Asia.
Cuộc họp lần thứ nhất trong năm 2009 của Uỷ ban Trọng tài Châu Á đã diễn ra tại Kuala Lumpur
In order to ensure that fully fit referees are available for centralised tournaments, it was decided to allow standby referees and assistant referees to take part in fitness tests alongside appointed referees two to four weeks before a tournament.
It was also decided to withdraw match officials from all AFC tournaments if they fail fitness tests during the AFC Elite Education Seminar. They will only be reappointed if they pass a re-test.
The Committee also accepted the logo for the AFC Referees’ Association. Entitled “The Eye on the ball”, the logo depicts the human eye, which represents a referee reading the game and demonstrating constant vigilance and awareness of what is happening around them.
All decisions must be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee, which meets on Tuesday.
