VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan: “Vietnamese Football is preparing forward to the World Cup 2026”
Vietnam’s Football almost finished a year with many events and outstanding achievements of the teams as well as opens the new ambitions for the coming years in which is the campaign to join World Cup 2026. Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed that Vietnamese Football has prepared for this ambitious goal.

VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan said that one of the plans of Vietnamese Football is joining the World Cup 2026 when the number of the participated teams will be increased to 48 and Asia might have 8.5 teams. This is a good chance for ASEAN countries such as Vietnam. Especially, in the plan forward to World Cup 2026, with the co-operation and support of Vin Group, Vietnam’s Football will have more favorable conditions to improve the skill and technical through the training and competition program for the young teams, particularly the players who join in this campaign.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan argued: “We are contacting to led U20 Vietnam to join the Toulon 2020 in France on the next summer. This is the tournament which including the top teams of the world such as Brazil, Chile, Russia, etc. This tournament is the place where the young players can play and competition to improve by themselves. In the coming period, VFF and Vin Group will continue to co-opera to lead the young teams to join in such quality tournaments”.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan also stated that not only create the chances for U20 players to play and learn the experiences but also for the U17 players who won’t have the plan for the next year AFC’s official tournaments, VFF are looking to the international friendly tournaments because these also are the players who can join in the World Cup 2026 Qualifier and we need to take all advantages to have the best preparation about the force.
About the action plan of the teams in 2020, VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan said that VFF had the meeting with the National Coach Committee and the head coaches of the national teams to make the plans in which continue focus on 3 matches at the World Cup 2022 Qualifier and try to join the Asian Final Round. Joining the Asian Final Round is the meaningful and important thing not only because of the ticker to directly join the Asian Cup 2023 but also open more chances for Vietnam’s team to closer to the world’s football level.

In addition, according to Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, the task to defend the title of AFF Suzuki Cup next years is the goal of VFF and head coach Park Hang-seo while at that time Vietnam’s football will have many tournaments such as World Cup Qualifier and also need to fit with the national competitions, especially the professional competition. At first, on Jan 2020, U23 Vietnam will open the year of Vietnamese Football when playing at U23 AFC Championship 2020. As the sharing of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, U23 Vietnam was the runner-up in 2018, therefore at the U23 AFC Championship 2020, we will continue to work hard and forward to the chance joining the Olympic Tokyo 2020. “It will be very difficult but we need the ambition to push the motivation for the team. It is the necessary thing for development”. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said.
Vietnam Women’s Football team is preparing for World Cup 2023
About the women’s football, in the early period of the year, on Feb 2020, the Vietnam Women’s Football team will join the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020 Asian Qualifiers Final Round. VFF Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan impressed: “This is the opportunity for women’s football to close to the world-class team such as Japan, China, Australia, etc. thereby we are looking to the World Cup 2023 when the number of the participated teams are also rised and the Vietnam Women’s team need to get the chance for the first time join the biggest tournament of the world. Besides that, the young teams will continue to receive the investments and have the training programs, the AFF’s tournament, and AFC’s Final. In addition, VFF also prepares the force for SEA Games 31 hosted by Vietnam at 2021 with the plan to create the condition for young players to join the international tournaments, thereby step by step support for the head coach to build the force and have the best line-up.
