AFC Competition Committee meets online to discuss the next plan for Asia Football
On the afternoon of 18th Aug, AFC Competition Committee has a meeting online to discuss the solution for the recovery period of Asia Football, after the influence of Covid-19.
The members join in discussing the national tournaments and national teams. VFF Permanent Vice President Trần Quốc Tuấn joins as Director of the Committee.
VFF Permanent Vice President Trần Quốc Tuấn said that Covid-19 is fast-changing around the world and has a huge influence on the society, in which football in the world and Asia. Now, many tournaments have to suspend, therefore finding out suitable solutions is very important. The members of the AFC also predict the difficulty of football including marketing, finance, and copyright, etc.
During this time, AFC always follows the situation of Covid-19 and organize the meeting with the attending of federation members to discuss and find out the solutions for Asia Football. When the pandemic is under the control, AFC adjusted the format of the AFC Champions League and the AFC Cup. Based on reality, some countries aim to host the matches of the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup. However, the Covid-19 pandemic also has new changing led to the new difficult. Hence, the return plan of AFC couldn’t work. With the ambition to ensure safety for everyone, AFC continues to follow and find out the timely solutions.
Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn shared that “Covid-19 pandemic are influencing for all fields including football. The members of AFC are discussing to find out the most suitable plan for this period. Asian Football cannot remain the international actions, therefore it needs a solution to focus on the development of national tournament, the countries are trying to develop the professional football, and to do that, the players need frequency compete. This is a key content in our meeting”.
Talk about the national tournaments of Vietnam in the coming time, Permanent Vice President said that this time VFF and VPF usually updates the situation of Covid pandemic as well as the effect on the clubs. About the professional tournaments, VPF also positively to submit the plan and solution for each period.
In this meeting, the members of the AFC Competition Committee also discussed the tournaments for clubs. For example, AFC Competition Committee suggested the idea to rank the clubs without basing on the ranking of national teams; since 2021-2022 season, the amount of international players who officially play in a match of a club is 3 plus 1 (including 3 international players and 1 Asia player).
These issues will be submitted to the Executive Committee of AFC.
