The 28th AFF Congress 2021: Not only overcome but also rise above difficulties and emerge stronger
In the afternoon of Oct 30, AFF held the 28th Congress online. On behalf of VFF, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – Vice Permanent President, and Mr. Le Hoai Anh – General Secretary joined the Congress.
The Congress to summary the activities of 2020 and 2021, forward to the ambitions of region football in the next period. This pandemic has tested both individually as Member Associations and collectively as a Regional Federation. It has seized and humbled all members in ways that have never experienced before and continue to pose enormous health, societal and economic challenges to all.
In these challenging times, AFF set aside time to plan for the AFF Strategic Plan 2021 to 2026. This includes, among other things, reviewing the learning points from COVID-19 and identifying opportunities that can help the AFF emerge stronger from the crisis. It also involves rethinking and transforming our business strategy, stakeholders engagement strategy, organisational structure, and new ways of operating in the new normal.
In the Congress, the members discussed and had a high agreement on the amendments of AFF Status as the submits of Law department and suggests of FIFA and AFC.
VFF Vice Permanent President Tran Quoc Tuan said: “In this Congress, the members discuss the important issues on events of ASEAN football, in which there are the issues related to the financial to ensure the upcoming activities”.
“The feedback of the member federations about the use of artificial turf in the tournament has been noticed by the host country Singapore and confirmed that all matches will be played on natural turf. This is an advantage for all teams in preparation and competition. The increase in the number of officials and team officials as proposed by VFF to ensure that the team’s activities can take place smoothly and effectively during the 1-month playing period is also considered and will be responded to on Nov 04” – Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan shared.
The Congress also cared about the next events of MAs included the matches of World Cup 2022 Qualifier and Women’s Asian Cup 2022. AFF and MAs hope that with recent efforts, the upcoming events of ASEAN football will be maintained and developed strongly.
