Coach Philippe Troussier summoned 41 players for the first U23 Vietnam gathering
On March 1, U23 Vietnam will gather for the first time to prepare for the missions in 2023. A total of 41 players will be summoned to start the competitive period under the leadership of new head coach Philippe Troussier.

Used to lead the U19 Vietnamese 2 years ago, it can be seen that the French strategist did not have many difficulties to make a list for the gathering of U23 Vietnam, which includes impressive young faces in recent times such as goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan, defenders Vu Tien Long, Tran Xuan Thinh, Phan Tuan Tai, Luong Duy Cuong, midfielders Le Van Do, Huynh Cong Den, striker Nguyen Van Tung… Besides, a series of new faces were also given the opportunity and ready to enter the race to find an official position in the U23 Vietnam squad.
According to the plan, the training process of U23 Vietnam in March 2023 will be divided into 4 phases. The first phase, which takes place from March 1 to March 7, is the period to help the new head coach and his associates mainly review and evaluate the quality of the players in order to prepare for the next training phase, which will take place from 8/3 to 12/3. In this period, the number of U23 Vietnam will be reduced from 41 players to about 32 players and the new head coach will also begin to transmit the gameplay, tactics applied to the team, and continue to assess the force for the next round of concentration.
The third focus phase of the U23 Vietnam starts from March 12 and ends on March 17. Like the gathering in phase 2, the team’s force will be reduced to 24 players and 3 goalkeepers. With this streamlined force, the team will train with a more in-depth lesson plan and expect to have 1-2 matches against the strong clubs of the V.League.
The fourth stage will also be the final gathering period in March 2023 of the U23 Vietnam. This phase lasts 12 days, from March 18 to March 29 with the force of players almost shaped for the 32nd SEA Games. During this period, it is expected that the U23 Vietnam team will have a training trip and friendly matches in the UAE with quality opponents.
In the periods, the U23 Vietnam will have flexible additions in force depending on the performance of U20 Vietnam at the 2023 U20 Asian Cup.
