U17 Vietnam gathers the second period, prepare for the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2023
As part of the preparation plan for the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2023, the U17 Vietnam under the guidance of head coach Hoang Anh Tuan reunited with 32 players.
According to the plan, the U17 Vietnam will have about 2 weeks of training in Viet Tri (Phu Tho) before moving to Qatar for training from May 19 to May 22. During the training period in Qatar, the U17 Vietnam will have a very quality friendly match with the host U17 Qatar, which will take place on May 21.
At the end of this match, the U17 Vietnam team will move to Japan to enter the next training phase, from May 22 to June 5. At this stage of training, the team will continue to have 3 more friendly matches against Japanese clubs.
After the training period in Japan and returning home, the U17 Vietnam team will have a week to complete the final preparation in Vung Tau before moving to Thailand to attend the U17 Asian Cup 2023.
According to the draw results, the U17 Vietnam is in Group D along with Japan, India and Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, host Thailand is in Group A along with Yemen, Malaysia and Laos. Group B is a race between Korea, Iran, Afghanistan and Qatar, while Group C is a competition of Tajikistan, Australia, Saudi Arabia and China.
The matches at the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup will take place from June 15 to July 2, 2023 at 4 stadiums: Rajamangala, Pathum Thani, Thammasat and Chonburi. Teams compete in a round-robin format for each group. The first and second teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The four winners in the quarter-finals will advance to the semi-finals, and also qualify for the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup in October.
