VFF and QFA officially signed a MOU on football development cooperation
At 3:30 pm (May 10) – Qatar time, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan had a meeting and worked with the President of the Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani in Doha (Qatar).
The two leaders of the two national football federations exchanged orientations for development cooperation in the coming period and were concretized by the signing of a memorandum of understanding on football development cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation and the Qatar Football Association, in which priority is youth football development programs. The event that the President of the Vietnam Football Federation and the Qatar Football Association officially signed a memorandum of understanding on football development cooperation between the two national football federations can be considered an important milestone in the relationship between Vietnam football and Qatar football. In fact, over the years, the Vietnam Football Federation and Qatar Football Association have had many high-level meetings and exchanges, thereby agreeing on the direction of comprehensive cooperation, jointly promoting the development of football.
At the meeting, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation, President Tran Quoc Tuan thanked the President and the leadership of the Qatar Football Association for many years, who have always been ready to support and create favorable conditions for Vietnam’s national team to train and compete. Most recently, in March, U22 Vietnam was invited to attend the international friendly tournament U23 Cup – Doha 2023 with the participation of many good young Asian teams. This is also an important tournament to help U22 Vietnam have the necessary rubbing and experience before entering the journey to defend the gold medal at the SEA Games 32 taking place in Cambodia. Valuable lessons from participating in the U23 tournament in Doha have helped U22 Vietnam gradually improve, mature and soon complete the first goal set, which is to win tickets to the semi-finals after 3 wins.
Sharing the same view on the sustainable development of football, in the memorandum of cooperation in football development signed, President of Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan and President of Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani agreed to give priority to programs of cooperation, exchange and support for the development of youth football.
As part of the preparation plan for the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup, it is expected that in mid-May, the U17 Vietnam will go to Qatar for training and friendly matches. From Qatar, the U17 team will go to Japan to continue training and will have a number of practice matches to complete the issues before entering the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup.
Qatar Football Association’s President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani affirmed that he will create the most favorable conditions for U17 Vietnam during the training period in Qatar, including a quality friendly match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Qatar, helping the two young teams have the opportunity to rub and gain experience before entering the continental U17 arena.
At 18:00 today (May 11) Vietnam time, AFC will conduct a draw to divide the group of the 2023 Asian Cup. With 16th place in Asia, Vietnam Team will be in the third seed group, along with Bahrain, Syria, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan and Lebanon. Meanwhile, as the host of the 2023 Asian Cup, Qatar is in group 1 along with Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. On the basis of the success of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan and the President of the Qatar Football Association Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani both believe that Qatar will continue to successfully host the major tournament of Asian football, and at the same time hope that Vietnam and Qatar will play with good results and complete the set goals.
