On June 27, the Vietnam Football Federation and TCP Vietnam Company held an award ceremony for the women’s football team with the achievement of winning the 32nd SEA Games gold medal, to honor the team’s talent, efforts and excellent performance of Vietnam women’s national football team.
Representatives of the VFF leaders attending the event were Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – General Secretary and representatives of the General Secretariat. The ceremony also had the presence of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Huan, General Director of TCP Vietnam, Mr. Mai Duc Chung – head coach of the national women’s team, the coaching staff and players, who had just returned to Hanoi after training camp in Germany.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation said: “In recent years, Vietnam women’s football has achieved many miracles, including the 4th consecutive time winning the SEA Games gold medal and won the right to attend the 2023 World Cup for the first time. The Vietnam women’s team has just returned from 3 weeks of training in Germany. The friendly match between the German women’s team and the Vietnam women’s team also received great attention from the world media. In the journey to the big arena, we will have the opportunity to meet strong teams like the USA, the Netherlands, and Portugal, but nothing can be stronger than the determination and competitive spirit of the women’s team. On behalf of the VFF, I would like to thank the encouragement from the brand and other companions. With this energy, the Vietnamese golden girls will go further in the upcoming journey.”
At the event, brand representatives presented gifts worth 1 billion dong in cash and 36 gold medals engraved with their own names and personal imprints to the players and members of the Vietnamese women’s team. This is a meaningful reward for the team of Mai Duc Chung after the recent impressive achievements. This also creates a great motivation for the players to continue to contribute and compete in the upcoming world arena.
Talking about the last training trip, coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “In addition to professional training, we have increased physical strength. In 21 days, the team has 4 friendly matches with quality opponent. Although losing to U23 Poland or the German women’s team, it is not a problem, it is important to rub and accumulate experience.” As for Thanh Nha, the young midfielder born in 2001 still feels happy after scoring against the German women’s team.
“Before the game, my teammates and I told ourselves not to concede too many goals. But after entering the match, the whole team was very determined and played their best to get the best results. Regarding the scoring situation, when I received a counter-attack from Van Su, I tried to run up and finish, at that time I was also afraid to shoot into the sky. This goal is very special to me,” Thanh Nha said.
