VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan attends the final match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
As the invitation of FIFA, today (August 16), VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan travel to Sydney (Australia) to attend the FIFA World Cup 2023 final match, which took place on August 20.
During his stay in Sydney, VFF’s President Tran Quoc Tuan will attend the Women’s Football Conference organized by FIFA on August 18 and 19. In addition, the President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan is expected to have meetings and work with the presidents of the German and Belgian football federations.
At the 2023 Women’s World Cup, the Vietnam women’s team attended and finished at the group stage for the first time, but left a deep impression on the spirit of competition. Throughout the 3 matches in the group stage, despite meeting too strong opponents: the USA, the Netherlands and Portugal, the Vietnam’s players showed the mental strength of Vietnamese women. In particular, in the first match against the USA team, goalkeeper Kim Thanh successfully saved Alex Morgan’s free kick from the 11m point, which made American fans spend time learning about the Vietnam women team as well as Kim Thanh. Another highlight related to the match of the Vietnam women’s team against the USA women’s team is the increased number of viewers. Based on data from Nielsen Research and Adobe Analytics, Fox Sports said: “The number of viewers on television for the match between the Vietnam women’s team and the USA women’s team jumped to a record level of over 6.5 million viewers in 15 last minute of the game. In addition, the match averaged 155,821 viewers online, the largest number ever on online channels for a match in the group stage of the Women’s World Cup. The match between the USA team and the Vietnam women’s team at the 2023 World Cup has grown to 99% of television viewers.
Returning home on August 3, the women’s team is training at the Vietnam Football Federation to prepare to participate in women’s football at Asiad 19, taking place from September 22 in China.
