The Vietnam futsal team sets off to participate in the 2024 Futsal Asian Cup
On the morning of October 4, the Vietnam futsal team left for Mongolia to participate in the 2024 Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers.
In preparation for the 2024 Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers, the Vietnam futsal team has been trained to practice at the Q8 Futsal Club Arena (HCMC) since September 3. During the training process, the team experienced 2 international friendly matches with very quality opponents: Hungary ranked 28th in the world (lost 1-4) and Russia ranked fourth in the world (draw 3-3). Previously, last June, the Vietnam futsal team also had a long training trip in South America and competed against two of the world’s top teams such as Paraguay and Argentina.
Coach Diego Giustozzi seemed very satisfied with the team’s thorough preparation process. According to his assessment, the players have responded better and better to the style of play he is building for the team, confidently playing against strong opponents.
Before the departure day, based on the performance and performance of the players, coach Diego Giustozzi decided to finalize the list of 15 players (14 official players and 1 backup player). Accordingly, four players had to say goodbye to their teammates: goalkeeper Luu Thanh Bao, Nguyen Hoang Anh, pivo Nguyen Tran Duy and Nguyen Van Tuan.
There are a total of 31 teams participating in the qualifying round and are divided into 8 groups (1 group of 3 teams, 7 groups of 4 teams) competing at centralized locations in 8 host countries. The 8 top ranked teams in 8 groups along with the 7 best runner-up teams and the home team Thailand will compete in the finals. According to the draw results, the Vietnam futsal team is in Group D with South Korea, Nepal and host Mongolia.
The team will play their opening match against Mongolia on October 7, against Nepal on October 9 and against South Korea on October 11.
