Opening of referee training course for national professional football tournaments in the 2023/24 season in the Southern region
On the afternoon of October 14, at Thien Hong Hotel (Ho Chi Minh City), the opening ceremony of the referee training program for the 2023/24 national professional football tournament in the southern region took place.
Referee training course for national professional football tournaments in the 2023/24 season in the Southern region organized by VFF in collaboration with Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF). Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Dang Thanh Ha – Member of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation Arbitration Committee, Mr. Vo Van Hung – Deputy General Director of VPF Company. In particular, attending the referee training course for the 2023/24 national professional football tournament in the southern region, there are also 26 main referees and 32 assistants from Da Nang.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Arbitration Committee Dang Thanh Ha shared: “The next season will last 2 years so it is quite special for Vietnamese football in general and Vietnamese referees. Therefore, the Arbitration Committee recommends that everyone prepare well. In the North, the referees all passed the fitness test. Hopefully, tomorrow the referees in the southern will be the same.”
The Chairman of Arbitration Committee also emphasized that refereeing is not only a matter of physical fitness but also must master the law down to the smallest, most rarely occurring details. “If you think the physical exam is all, that’s a mistake. Knowledge of the law is not just learned one day but is cultivated regularly, it must be studied continuously”, he noted.
Representing VPF, Deputy General Director Vo Van Hung expects that the referee force participating in the training session in the South will complete the job as well as in the recent training session in the North. “It’s not about passing well, it’s about trying with spirit and expertise. How can the referees grasp the lecturers’ communications well to complete their assigned tasks?” Mr. Hung shared.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the training course began the first lesson on updating the 2023/2024 competition rules. During this training session, referees are able to combine theory and practice in parallel, learning from on-field situations and knowledge about VAR. In particular, referees and assistant referees will participate in a physical fitness test, taking place on the morning of October 15. This is a very important check that is decisive as to whether referees and assistants can participate in running matches in national professional football leagues in the 2023/24 season or not. The training course for the southern referee force will take place for 5 days and end on October 18.
