In congratulating the members, AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “The AFC has grown to become a model of excellence in upholding good governance and the highest ethical standards in recent years.
“These achievements have been built on the valuable contributions of our judicial body members, so even as we elect our new members, we must take a moment to thank all of those who have served Asian football with distinction.
“I have every faith that those elected today will continue to build on their proud legacy. I would like to congratulate them on their appointments, and I am confident that their capabilities and expertise will play an important role in elevating the future of the Asian game.”
At the outset, the AFC President expressed his deepest sympathies to the families who have lost loved ones in the ongoing tragedy that has caught the attention of the world and underlined the AFC’s hopes for a peaceful outcome in order to facilitate the swift return of football in Palestine.
Meanwhile, in a clear and unwavering sign of Asian unity and solidarity, the AFC Member Associations expressed their support and desire to stand behind a single bid from Saudi Arabia as reiterated by the AFC President for the hosting rights of the FIFA World Cup in 2034.
Earlier this month, the AFC President had announced the AFC’s support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s intention to bid for the coveted hosting rights.
At the same time, the Congress also approved the Audited Financial Statements and Auditors’ Report for the year 2022 as well as the Budget for the financial years 2023 and 2024.
