U16 Vietnam returns home, aiming for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers
Following the conclusion of the 2024 ASEAN U16 Championship, U16 Vietnam returned home on the morning of July 4th. The team will regroup in early August to participate in the International Tournament in China and undergo training in Japan in preparation for the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
After two weeks of training and competing in Indonesia, Coach Tran Minh Chien’s team returned home yesterday. Specifically, the whole team checked out of the Harris Hotel at 4:30 AM, then headed to Solo Surakarta Airport for their 7:00 AM flight to Jakarta. After a flight of over an hour, U16 Vietnam arrived at the airport in the capital city of Indonesia to continue their journey back to Ho Chi Minh City.
After a 5-hour layover, the entire team boarded their flight back to Ho Chi Minh City at 13:50 and arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport at 17:00 the same day. Subsequently, members from the southern region returned to their clubs or families, while the group of players heading to Hanoi and nearby provinces continued their journey to Noi Bai Airport, landing at 19:35. Those players living far away were accommodated in hotels in Hanoi by the Vietnam Football Federation to return to their hometowns today (July 5th).
Upon returning to Vietnam, players from clubs qualified for the 2024 National U17 Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup will regroup with their teammates to participate in the tournament, scheduled to take place in Ba Ria Vung Tau from July 11th to July 24th.
Regarding the upcoming plans for U16 Vietnam, the coaching staff will monitor the 2024 National U17 Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup to continue assessing and selecting additional players who possess strong technical qualities. This aims to strengthen the Vietnam U16 team.
Following the conclusion of the 2024 National U17 Championship – Thai Son Nam Cup, the Vietnam U16 national team will regroup for training starting from early August. Around mid-August, the team will participate in a friendly tournament in China against high-quality opponents, followed by a training camp in Japan to finalize preparations for the 2025 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers, which will take place in October.
