At the final match of the CFA Team China U16 International Tournament 2025 held this afternoon (June 1), the Vietnam U16 team produced a remarkable comeback to defeat Saudi Arabia U16 with a score of 2-1.
Entering the match, Vietnam U16 faced an early setback as midfielder Văn Dương suffered an injury in the 8th minute and was forced to leave the field, making way for Quang Hưng. Despite this early personnel change, coach Cristiano Roland’s players showed great effort under the pressure from their opponents. However, in the 23rd minute, Saudi Arabia U16 unexpectedly took the lead after capitalizing on a defensive error by Vietnam.
Unshaken by the setback, Vietnam U16 quickly regrouped and pushed forward in search of an equalizer. In the 29th minute, after a well-coordinated attack down the right flank, Sỹ Bách made a rapid run and delivered a precise low cross, allowing Quang Khôi to rise high and head the ball into the net, leveling the score at 1-1.
In the second half, the red-shirted squad continued to display discipline and solidity in defense while making good use of sharp counterattacks. In the 55th minute, Saudi Arabia U16 were awarded a penalty after a foul inside the box. However, luck was on Vietnam’s side as the opponent failed to convert the spot kick.
In the remaining minutes, Saudi Arabia U16 pushed hard for another goal, but Vietnam U16 stayed composed and seized their opportunity. In the 83rd minute, Chu Ngọc Nguyễn Lực made a skillful dribble that forced a defender to commit a foul just outside the penalty area. Wearing the number 10 jersey, he stepped up to take the free kick and delivered a brilliant strike, sealing a 2-1 victory for Vietnam U16.
