The Vietnam U17 national team has arrived in Ehime, ready for their training camp in Japan

On the afternoon of November 6, the Vietnam U17 national team arrived in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, to begin a training camp lasting more than a week as part of their final preparations for the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers. This training trip is part of a program organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), aimed at providing young players with valuable international experience and helping them gain more exposure to competitive matches.

Before departing for Japan, head coach Cristiano Roland and his players wrapped up their domestic training phase with a “return-leg” friendly match against Cambodia U17 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. In that match, Vietnam U17 continued their impressive form with a dominant 5-0 victory, featuring doubles from Nguyen Van Duong and Vu Long Nhat, while Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc scored the remaining goal.

Reflecting on the team’s recent preparations, coach Cristiano Roland expressed his satisfaction with the players’ spirit and progress. The Brazilian tactician noted that throughout the past month, the players have maintained a positive mindset and strong desire to represent the national team. They have adapted well to the playing philosophy set by the coaching staff, fully understand their roles, and play with great confidence. This, he said, forms an important foundation for the team to reach their best form ahead of the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers.

During their stay in Japan, the Vietnam U17 team is scheduled to play three friendly matches against carefully selected opponents suited to the coaching staff’s training objectives. Specifically, the team will face U18 Imabari on November 8, Matsuyama University on November 11, and U18 Ehime on November 13.

After the training camp, the Vietnam U17 national team will return home on November 15 to enter the final stage of preparation for the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, which will take place from November 22 to 30, 2025, in Hanoi and Hung Yen.

Training and competing in Japan — a country renowned for its elite youth development system — is expected to provide Vietnam’s U17 players with valuable experience as they strive toward their goal of qualifying for the AFC U17 Asian Cup 2026 finals.
