Entering the match with high confidence after a 4-0 victory over the same opponent in the qualifiers for the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup, head coach Cristiano Roland’s players quickly pushed up their formation and took the initiative from the opening minutes.

Vietnam U17 soon applied significant pressure in the opposition half. As early as the 3rd minute, Quy Vuong made a dangerous run into the penalty area, before Van Duong tried his luck with a long-range effort in the 6th minute, which went wide. In the 11th minute, Van Duong had another one-on-one opportunity after winning the ball from a Malaysian defender, but he was unable to beat the goalkeeper.

However, just one minute later, from a corner kick on the right flank, Sy Bach made the most of the chance to open the scoring for Vietnam U17. The early goal boosted the team’s confidence as they continued to launch varied attacking plays. In the 17th minute, Sy Bach had another dangerous breakaway but failed to convert in a one-on-one situation.

Vietnam U17’s dominance was further reflected in the 27th minute. Following a well-coordinated move, Quy Vuong delivered a cut-back pass while Trong Nhan smartly let the ball run, allowing Sy Bach to strike directly and double the lead to 2-0.

On the other side, Malaysia U17’s efforts mainly came from set pieces but were not enough to trouble goalkeeper Xuan Hoa. Before the end of the first half, Vietnam U17 added a third goal in the 38th minute, when Van Duong finished clinically from a precise cross by Quy Vuong, giving his team a 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, Malaysia U17 pushed forward in search of a goal. In the 48th minute, Muslim had a close-range attempt but was denied by a timely intervention from Vietnam’s defense. Shortly after, from a corner by Aqif, Aiman produced a dangerous shot, but goalkeeper Xuan Hoa was well-positioned to make the save.

After a brief spell under pressure, Vietnam U17 regained control and extended their lead. In the 56th minute, from Anh Hao’s pass, Manh Cuong finished quickly inside the box to make it 4-0.

In the remaining minutes, under the hot weather conditions, both teams showed signs of fatigue. Vietnam U17 slowed the tempo, maintaining solid possession to protect their advantage.

In the end, Vietnam U17 secured a 4-0 victory over Malaysia U17, repeating the same result as in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers. It was a strong start, providing positive momentum for coach Cristiano Roland’s side in their campaign.
