VFF delegation visits and works with (former) Long An Football Federation, towards the establishment congress of Tay Ninh Football Federation
On the afternoon of June 9, a delegation from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), led by Mr. Nguyễn Quốc Hội, Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee, paid a visit and held a working session with the former Long An Football Federation. Accompanying the delegation were Mr. Nguyễn Hiền Lương, Head of the VFF Inspection Committee; Mr. Lưu Quang Điện Biên, Head of the Grassroots Football, Education and Member Associations Department; along with representatives from various VFF functional departments.
This visit marked the final stop in VFF’s working program with member football federations in the southern region. Prior to this, the delegation had visited and held working sessions with the Football Federations of Vĩnh Long Province and Đồng Tháp Province.
Representing the local authorities at the meeting were Mr. Lê Quang Chánh, Deputy Director of the Tay Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Phạm Văn Chương, General Secretary of the former Long An Football Federation; and Mr. Nguyễn Bảo Hoàn, Director of the Tay Ninh Sports Training and Competition Center.
During the meeting, the VFF delegation received a report on the activities of the former Long An Football Federation following the administrative restructuring process, and discussed the preparations for the establishment of the Tay Ninh Football Federation. As one of VFF’s long-standing member associations, the former Long An Football Federation has been actively coordinating with relevant authorities in Tay Ninh Province to complete the required procedures in accordance with current regulations.
Local representatives reported that the documentation and procedures related to the establishment of the Tay Ninh Football Federation have largely been completed and are currently being submitted for consideration by the competent authorities. At the same time, preparations for the new Executive Committee are also underway, with efforts focused on consolidating key leadership positions, particularly the role of President. If all preparations proceed as planned, the Establishment Congress of the Tay Ninh Football Federation is expected to take place in August this year.
Despite being in a transitional phase, football activities in the province have continued to operate steadily. Youth teams from U11 to U21 remain active in national competitions; Long An Football Club is currently competing in the National First Division, while Tay Ninh Football Club is participating in the National Second Division. In addition, grassroots football activities continue to be organized regularly, attracting strong support and engagement from local football enthusiasts.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyễn Quốc Hội acknowledged the local authorities’ efforts in maintaining football activities and proactively carrying out preparations for the establishment of the Tay Ninh Football Federation. On behalf of the Standing Committee of the VFF Executive Committee, he expressed his hope that the former Long An Football Federation would continue to work closely with provincial authorities to complete the necessary procedures and successfully organize the Establishment Congress of the Tay Ninh Football Federation.
Mr. Nguyễn Quốc Hội emphasized: “Long An is one of the localities with a rich football tradition and a solid foundation for football development built over many years. The VFF hopes that local football stakeholders will continue to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility in maintaining and developing football activities in the province. For its part, the VFF will continue to accompany and support its member associations, including the former Long An Football Federation and the Tay Ninh Football Federation once it is established. Through this support, we aim to strengthen and consolidate the network of member organizations, thereby creating a solid foundation for the development of local football in particular and Vietnamese football as a whole.”
