VFF Leadership Meets and Encourages Vietnam Women’s National Team Ahead of ASIAD 2026
On the afternoon of 8 August, at the pitch of the Vietnam Football Federation’s Youth Football Training Centre, VFF Vice President Trần Anh Tú, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the VFF Executive Committee, met with and encouraged the coaching staff and players of the Vietnam Women’s National Team, who are currently in camp preparing for ASIAD 2026.

At the meeting, on behalf of the VFF Standing Committee and VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn, Vice President Trần Anh Tú extended his best wishes for good health and success to the coaching staff and players of the Vietnam Women’s National Team. He emphasised that ASIAD 2026 is one of the team’s key objectives this year and reaffirmed that the VFF will continue to provide close support and the best possible conditions to ensure the team’s preparations are carried out smoothly.
VFF Vice President Trần Anh Tú noted that, while the Vietnam Men’s National Team is competing at the Hyundai Cup 2026 and has secured a place in the semi-finals, and several national semi-professional competitions are also taking place in August, the VFF has proactively developed and implemented a comprehensive preparation plan for the Vietnam Women’s National Team, ensuring all necessary conditions for their training, matches and training camps.
Vice President Trần Anh Tú emphasised that the ASIAD is a major sporting event that requires thorough preparation. He expressed his hope that the team would make the most of the current training camp, particularly the upcoming training camp in China, to achieve the best possible preparation for ASIAD. He also wished the coaching staff and players continued unity, strong determination in training and the best possible results in competition.
On behalf of the coaching staff, head coach Hoàng Văn Phúc expressed his gratitude for the attention, encouragement and support provided by the VFF leadership to the Vietnam Women’s National Team.
Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc said that all 29 players had fully reported for duty since 7 August. After three training sessions, the players were in high spirits, with the entire squad training enthusiastically and ready to work towards their upcoming objectives.
The head coach also thanked the VFF leadership for their continued attention, trust and support for the team. He said the squad is in a positive frame of mind and will give their utmost effort during this training camp. At the upcoming ASIAD, the Vietnam Women’s National Team’s target is to fight for a place in the quarter-finals.
According to the plan, the Vietnam Women’s National Team will be based and train at the Vietnam Football Federation’s Youth Football Training Centre from 7 to 30 August. During this period, the team is scheduled to play three domestic training matches.
From 31 August to 6 September, HLV Hoàng Văn Phúc’s side will travel to China for a training camp, where they will play two friendly matches. With the arrangements and support provided by the VFF, the Vietnam Women’s National Team is therefore expected to play a total of five matches as part of their preparations to fine-tune their performance ahead of ASIAD 2026.
At ASIAD 2026, the women’s football tournament will officially kick off on 14 September. Vietnam have been drawn in a group alongside hosts Japan, Chinese Taipei and Thailand. In their opening match on 14 September, HLV Hoàng Văn Phúc’s side will face Chinese Taipei, before taking on hosts Japan on 17 September and Thailand on 21 September.
With proactive and thorough preparations, combined with strong determination, the Vietnam Women’s National Team will enter ASIAD 2026 aiming to give their best, maintain team unity and strive for the best possible results.
