Vietnam team arrive in Kuala Lumpur, set sights on first leg of ASEAN Championship 2026 semifinal
On the afternoon of 13 August, the Vietnam national team departed for Malaysia to prepare for the first leg of the ASEAN Championship 2026 semifinal against the hosts. Following a smooth journey, head coach Kim Sang Sik and his players arrived in Kuala Lumpur, settled into their accommodation and received a warm welcome from the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.
The Vietnam national team departed from Hanoi on a 14:45 flight and landed in Kuala Lumpur at 19:10 local time on the same day. As the airport was relatively quiet when the team arrived, immigration procedures were completed quickly.
Earlier, team manager Doan Anh Tuan had travelled to Malaysia one day in advance to carry out advance preparations, review logistical arrangements and make the necessary preparations for the team. Thanks to the proactive preparations, the team’s reception and transfer to the hotel were carried out smoothly.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam national team will hold their first training session in Kuala Lumpur on the afternoon of 14 August, continuing to fine-tune their preparations for the first-leg semifinal.
The first-leg match between Malaysia and Vietnam will kick off at 20:00 on 16 August (Vietnam time). Following the away leg, the two teams will meet again in the second leg at My Dinh National Stadium on 19 August.
With the support of Vietnamese fans in Malaysia, as well as encouragement from supporters back home, head coach Kim Sang Sik and his players are approaching the first leg of the semifinal with maximum focus and determination.
