VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan meets and encourages Vietnam Women’s National Team Ahead of ASIAD 2026

At the meeting, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan praised the Vietnam Women’s National Team for their serious attitude and strong commitment in training. During the nationwide public holiday, head coach Hoang Van Phuc and his players continued to maintain their training intensity and remain focused on key objectives in their preparations for ASIAD 2026, which will take place in Japan in mid-September.

President Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized that the women’s national team is currently entering a period of generational transition. A number of young players who have gained valuable experience at the AFC U17 and U20 Women’s Asian Cups, as well as in the Vietnam Women’s National Championship, are gradually establishing themselves and preparing to succeed the senior generation. This is considered an important factor in Vietnam’s women’s football development strategy for the next four-year cycle.

According to President Tran Quoc Tuan, the appointment of head coach Hoang Van Phuc has also brought fresh energy to the Vietnam Women’s National Team during its ongoing process of transition, renewal and development. On that basis, the team needs to continue striving to enhance their professional capabilities, particularly as women’s football in West Asia, Central Asia and East Asia is receiving increasingly strong investment.

President Tran Quoc Tuan also affirmed that the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is always committed to providing the national team with the best possible conditions in terms of benefits, accommodation and training plans. Ahead of ASIAD 2026, Hai Yen and her teammates will attend a short training camp in China. In addition to further improving their physical fitness and tactical preparations, the team will play two friendly matches as final tests, helping them gain valuable experience and build confidence before entering the Asian Games.

On behalf of the team, captain Pham Hai Yen expressed her appreciation for the attention and encouragement from the VFF leadership. The Vietnam Women’s National Team captain affirmed that the entire team would continue to train diligently, give their utmost effort and strive to achieve the best possible result in the women’s football tournament at ASIAD 2026.

According to the plan, the Vietnam Women’s National Team will continue training in Hanoi through September 1 before travelling to China for a training camp from September 2 to 11. During the camp, the team will play two friendly matches to complete their final preparations ahead of ASIAD 2026.

The women’s football tournament at ASIAD 2026 will kick off on September 14. Vietnam have been drawn in a group alongside hosts Japan, Chinese Taipei and Thailand. Head coach Hoang Van Phuc and his players will face Chinese Taipei in their opening match on September 14, before taking on Japan on September 17 and Thailand on September 21.
