Ha Noi to host zonal championship for girls
The Asian Football Confederation U14 Girls' Regional Championship for the Southeast Asian Zone will begin on June 23 in Ha Noi.
The championship is divided into two groups, with Group A featuring defending champions Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia and Laos – the last two competing for the first time – as well as Cambodia. Group B consists of hosts Viet Nam, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines.
The teams will compete in a round-robin format in the group stage, playing in 70-minute matches.
The top two teams of each group will advance to the knock-out round.
Viet Nam will meet the Philippines in the group opener.
DPR Korea have emerged champions of the East zone. China and Japan are the two runners-up.
Jordan were crowned the winners of the West Zone, followed by the United Arab Emirates and Palestine.
The conclusion of the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship for the South and Central Zone has been postponed, following the earthquake in Nepal in April. Further details will be released in due course.
