The AFC U-14 Girls’ Festival of Football for the east and Asean regions came to an end here on Tuesday after two weeks of football and fun activities.

Ho Chi Minh City: The AFC U-14 Girls’ Festival of Football for the east and Asean regions came to an end here on Tuesday after two weeks of football and fun activities.

 

 

Match between Thailand (red) and Japan at the AFC U-14 Girls’ Festival of football in Vietnam which closed on Tuesday.

Players and officials from 11 AFC member associations – Cambodia,China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea,Japan, Guam, Korea Republic,Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand andVietnam – took part in the annual festival which was held atThanhLongSportsCenter.

 

 

The festival has been successful having progressed smoothly in favourable weather conditions and all teams have had a good time.

 

Martie Bautista, a player of the Philippines U-14 team, said that she had an enjoyable time in HCMCity.

 

“The festival is good because I have learned new skills and met various people and the food is OK as well,” Bautista said.

 

Vietnam’s player Giang Ngoc Kim Thuan also had a similar view.

 

Thuan, a student at LacHongSecondary School in HCMCity, said: “After taking part in many different activities during the two-week period at the festival, we have learned a lot. I have learned new football and social kills, tactical thinking as well as had exchanges with players from Thailand and Myanmar.”

 

There were over 40 matches during the festival and the results showed that players fromChina, Japan, KoreaRepublic and DPR Korea were still superior in size, skills and tactical thinking than the rest of the festival.

 

Thailand, meanwhile, has made big progress in girls’ festival in recent years, continues showing positive signs this year with good games against KoreaRepublic and Japan and is said to dominate Southeast Asian girls’ football in the years to come.
