Former French and Vietnamese football stars meet in friendly match
Former big names in French soccer claimed a 2-1 victory against retired local stars at a friendly match in Ho Chi Minh City on April 8.

The match, which attracted 15,000 fans, is part of the French Cultural Week being held in the city from April 6-12.
The French team was led by European Championship winning coach Michael Hidalgo and included football stars Karembeu, Loko, Diomede, Manuel Amoros, Djetou and Silvestre.
The local team comprised of Hong Son, Huynh Duc, Cong Minh, Hoang Buu, Manh Cuong, Huu Thang and Do Khai, all of whom are “golden generation” players of the national team.
Rocheteau opened the scoreboard for the guest team with a goal in the 23rd minute. In the 55th minute, former captain of the national team Hoang Buu levelled the score by a volley. Four minute later, Frenchman Simba headed a goal to fix the match’s final score.
Proceeds from the friendly game will be donated to Vietnamese orphans.
