AFC hasn’t decided a plan to select 5 teams to join into the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021
On the afternoon of Apr 07, AFC Executive Committee had the webinar meeting under the host of AFC President Sheikh Salman Bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa to deliver 2021 competitions. VFF Vice Permanent President Tran Quoc Tuan joined the meeting as a member of the Committee.
At the meeting, the committee approved the suggestion of Function Committees in the period from Nov 2020 to Mar 2021, in which almost is the adjustment of competition plan due to the effect of COVID-19 pandemic. For the suggestion of the Futsal Committee to select 5 Asian teams to join in the FIFA World Cup 2021 Final, the AFC Executive Committee hasn’t decided yet and needs more research and discussion.
Before that, AFC Futsal Championship was canceled due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore, AFC Futsal Committee suggested 2 plans. One is based on the achievements of the teams on AFC Futsal Championship 2018. Another plan is based on the achievements of the last 3 seasons (2014, 2016, 2918).
At the meeting, as a member of the AFC Executive Committee, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan argued opinion that the selection needs more discussion to ensure the relevant issues and find out the best way for the improvement of Asia Futsal.
AFC Executive Committee will continue to listen to the ideas from members before making the final decision.
The FIFA World Cup 2021 Final will kick-off with 24 teams in Lithuania from Sep 12 to Oct 13, 2021.
