#AFCU17 Cast Finalised!
Kuala Lumpur: The 16 teams for the AFC U17 Asian Cup™ 2023 Finals have been decided following the conclusion of the Qualifiers on Sunday.
A breathtaking day of action across the continent saw Asia’s rising stars put their best foot forward in their bid to get their respective teams across the finishing line.
The Group A top spot was decided with a match to spare with Japan booking their spot on Matchday Four but the East Asian side signed off their campaign with a 2-0 win against Jordan on Sunday.
Malaysia played superbly to defeat hosts Indonesia 5-1 to emerge Group B winners with 10 points while Qatar were equally dominant in their 4-1 victory over Lebanon to clinch the Group C top spot.
Group D went to the wire with Saudi Arabia edging India 2-1 in a winner-takes-all clash while Yemen (pictured above) ended their Group E campaign with a perfect record of three wins after a 4-0 defeat of hosts Bangladesh.
Vietnam were equally perfect in Group F, defeating their Southeast Asian rivals Thailand 3-0 for top spot.
Australia beat China PR 3-1 to end their campaign with three wins and top spot in Group G while hosts Tajikistan turned on the power to defeat Afghanistan 2-0 for a 100 percent record in Group H.
Islamic Republic of Iran, having booked their Finals’ spot with a game to spare, defeated Hong Kong 11-1 to end their Group I challenge with a third win while Uzbekistan had already confirmed their berth from the three-team Group J with victories over Brunei Darussalam and Korea Republic ahead of Sunday’s final Matchday.
Advancing to the Finals as the best six runners-up were Korea Republic (Group J), China PR (Group G), Afghanistan (Group H), India (Group D), Thailand (Group F) and Laos (Group I).
