On December 26, 2005, Vice President Le The Tho sent an application to the VFF Executive Board to withdraw from the Executive Committee. On January 20, 2006, the 2nd Conference of the VFF Executive Committee, term 5th, was held in Hanoi and unanimously approved.

On January 10, 2007, at the VFF Annual General Meeting term 5th, after collecting the votes of the delegates, the Congress agreed to elect additional members of the Executive Committee and Vice President of Professional Affair. Results: Mr. Le Quy Phuong – Director of the Institute of Sports Science officially became a member of the Executive Committee of the VFF, Mr. Duong Vu Lam assumed the position of Vice President of Professional Affair
