On the morning of October 13, the training course on referee assessor and refereeing for the 2023/24 national professional football tournament season (Northern region) ended at VFF.
Attending were Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President of Vietnam Football Federation; Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Vice President of Vietnam Football Federation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF Company; Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi – General Secretary of Vietnam Football Federation; Mr. Dang Thanh Ha – Head of the Vietnam Football Federation Arbitration Committee and Mr. Vo Van Hung – Deputy General Director of VPF Company, along with all referee supervisors and 64 referees and assistant referees in the Northern region.
In the training results report, instructor Dang Thanh Ha – Chairman of the VFF Arbitration Committee highly appreciated the very good physical preparation of the referees when 100% of the referees passed the physical test. Mr. Dang Thanh Ha emphasized: “In addition, the tests also achieved relatively good results, from assessors to referees; It is recommended that assessors and referees be more proactive in learning, continuing to accumulate experience and improve knowledge to complete their tasks well.”
Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF Company assessed that passing the physical fitness test of 64 referees and assistant referees attending the training class at the beginning of the season showed serious preparation and Referees’ readiness for the new 2023/24 season. “Although in the 2023 season, the refereeing work still has errors, the VFF evaluates that the referees are increasingly improving and are more aware of self-improvement and training to improve their professionalism. With the knowledge added in the training as well as the support of VAR technology, hopefully, the 2023/24 season will minimize errors, thereby improving the professional quality of tournaments,” said Mr. Tran Anh Tu.
Regarding the plan to use VAR technology in the new season, Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation and chairman of the Board of Directors of VPF Company shared: “Currently we have 2 VAR vehicles which meet standards and are being put into use from the end of the 2023 season. According to the plan, Night Wolf V.League 1-2023/24 will have a maximum of 4 matches per round selected to apply VAR technology. Shortly, when 2 VAR vehicles are imported by VFF, we will aim for all matches in the National Championship to apply VAR technology. I have been accompanied by the referees for the past 6 years, and my trust in the referee team is increasing day by day. I am very happy when gradually the errors begin to decrease, and the assessor and referees are becoming more and more serious in their work. I believe that in the new season, errors will continue to decrease.”
On behalf of the VFF’s Standing Committee, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President of the Vietnam Football Federation assigned tasks to the assessors and referees before the new season. Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan noted that VAR technology is a tool to support the professionalism of referees in controlling the match, so referees must not be subjective or rely too much on VAR in whistleblowing. “Even with VAR technology, referees still have to strengthen their abilities and responsibilities at work and constantly improve their knowledge, drawing lessons after each assigned match, from that enhances one’s capacity and reduces errors.”
Currently, VFF has been determined to organize many tournaments, on the one hand creating a development playground for players and also an environment for referees to hone their expertise and improve their working efficiency, especially those young referees who have more environment to develop.
