Coach Akira Ijiri is optimistic about the future of Vietnam women’s football
Having just come back Vietnam with the U17 women’s team after a training trip and a friendly match in Japan, head coach Ijiri Akira expressed his satisfaction with the results of the trip.
“In general, both inside and outside the pitse, the Vietnam women’s U17 team has completed the task and succeeded. The players gained more international experience at the age of 15-16. After the recent friendly tournament, the team has also improved a lot, the players certainly have more experience of success and failure, “said coach Akira.
Evaluating the players, coach Akira emphasized: “Young players need to improve their individual technique, especially at the age of 15-16, when your football career is only a few more years, there is still lack of technique. In my opinion, the most difficult thing is that you have passed the golden age.”
Sharing with press about the goal of this training period, coach Akira said that he and his associates will use all their abilities to bring the team through the 2024 Asian 1st qualifiers, adding that train more for the players ability to use the ball, improve skills, personal tactics.
Evaluating the players in the upcoming Women’s U17 Asian Cup first qualifying round, coach Akira said the opponents were all good, although there was not much specific information, but they were definitely strong opponents.
Responding to a question about the prospect of developing Vietnam women’s football, coach Akira shared: “I have been in Vietnam for a long time. My main job is to train coaches, upgrade players to national team level and train young players. I see we have done well in the Southeast Asian arena, but in the world there are still many difficulties. Currently, the ranking of Vietnam women’s football is from 34 to 33. We are on the right track, at this rate, Vietnam football may have more chance to participant in World Cup.”
