Coach Alfred Riedl’s family sent a thank letter to Deputy Minister, VFF President Lê Khánh Hải
On 11th Sep, the family of former head coach Alfred Riedl sent a letter to thank Minister, VFF President Lê Khánh Hải. In the letter, his wife said:
“Dear Mr. President,
I thank you very much for your words of sympathy and comfort for me and our family.
For Alfred and me, Vietnam was always our second homeland and I will never forget the wonderful time that we have spent together in your beautiful country.
I take this opportunity to send you and the Vietnam Football Federation my warmest greetings and deepest thanks.

As the news on 8th Sep, former head coach of Vietnam National Team Alfred Riedl passed away at Austria, after a time fight with cancer. His passing is a big loss not only for his family but also for Austria’s Football and Vietnamese Football. Right after received the information, Deputy Minister, VFF President Lê Khánh Hải sent a letter of condolence to his family.
Mr. Alfred Riedl was a popular person with Vietnamese Football. He guided Vietnam National Team in 1998-2000, 2003-2004, and 2005-2007. During the time with the national team, he made great achievements such as Silver Medal at Tiger Cup 1998 (means AFF Cup now); Bronze Medal at Dunhill Cup 1999; Silver Medal at SEA Games 1999, 2003, and 2005; Silver Medal at LG Cup 2000; Championship of LG Cup 2003; and the best was the chance to join into Asian Cup 2007 Quarterfinals.
