A World Cup midfielder from Trinidad and Tobago, Aurtis Whitley, is scheduled to come to Vietnam for a possible link up with Vietnam”s topflight Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) club.

A World Cup midfielder from Trinidad and Tobago, Aurtis Whitley, is scheduled to come to Vietnam for a possible link up with Vietnam”s topflight Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) club. 

Whitley, 30, had a contract awaiting him and would spend a few days to consider the conditions, the Soco Warriors web site reported.

He is regarded as one of the strongest player”s in the Trinidad and Tobago”s national league. He has been a part of the Trinidad and Tobago national team since 2000 and took part in the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

HAGL recently joined with Arsenal in a partnership that will see the two clubs share training resources and establish the English club”s presence in the South East Asian region.

Arsenal will also help support HAGL”s technical and academy development, while HAGL will build on the club”s commercial support base in Vietnam.

They started the construction of a football academy in Vietnam last week.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently spoke on the connection, saying Swe try to extend Arsenal in many territories, but in a way where we can make a difference with our technical co-operation.⬝
