11th round of V-League: Song Lam Nghe An crush Binh Dinh to take second place

The eleventh round of V-League witnessed an impressive performance by Song Lam Nghe An who defeated Binh Dinh 6-0, moving them up to second place. Meanwhile,Haiphong maintained their one-point lead with a difficult draw. 

Haiphong continue to lead the V-League ranking

Hosts Song Lam Nghe An pressurised Binh Dinh from the beginning of the game. In the 23rd minute, defender Hong Tien rushed upfront to receive a pass from Opara and scored, putting the hosts ahead.

The opener stimulated the hosts’ spirit and Binh Dinh had to face continuous attacks. Cong Vinh missed a good opportunity in the 31st minute. He passed the goalkeeper and tried to put the ball into the empty net however a Binh Dinh defender appeared in time to stop the ball.

The score was widened in early second half following the goal by Trong Hoang who received a good pass from Cong Vinh.

Coach Nguyen Ngoc Thien of Binh Dinh decided to strengthen front line, putting Carlos on. However, Song Lam Nghe An continued to dominate the game and scored another goal in the 55th minute.

The guests fell into an even more desperate situation after Carlos was red-carded in the 77th minute. Following that the game was all Song Lam Nghe An who netted three more goals to end the game with the 6-0 win. Song Lam Nghe An now have 19 points and hold second place of the table.

In other matches, Binh Duong beat Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-0 at home. This is Binh Duong’s second win of the week following last Tuesday’s 3-1 away win over ACB Hanoi and is also their first home win of the season.

The Cong lost 1-0 to Khanh Hoa and dropped to the third place. Meanwhile, the table toppersHaiphong had a difficult match in Hanoi. Ngoc Thanh’s two goals in the second half helpedHaiphong secure a point in a 2-2 draw with ACB Hanoi.

In Thanh Hoa, Minh Phuong earned a point for Dong Tam Long An, scoring an equaliser in the second half of their last match under coach Calisto who is expected to sign a three-year contract to lead the national team today.

Southern SteelSaigonPort slid two places after being defeated 1-0 at away in Da Nang.

Nam Dinh were held by Hoa Phat Hanoi in a scoreless draw at home. After the eleventh round, both Hanoi teams, ACB Hanoi and Hoa Phat Hanoi, remaining at the bottom of the table with nine points each.
