24th SEA Games men"s football: VN to meet Singapore

According to the drawing result for men”s football event at the upcoming 24^th SEA Games, the seed of B group, Vietnam will be in the same group with Singapore, Laos and Myanmar.

At the last SEA Games in the Philippines in 2005, Vietnam was also in the same group with Singapore and Laos. Vietnam and Singapore experienced a fierce race to the semi-finals. Vietnam defeated Singapore 2-1 and went into the semi-final round.

The two teams met again recently at the qualifier round of the AFF Cup 2007 in early this year. The match finished with a draw, without any goal. However, Singapore won the championship at this tournament.

The competition for the top position of B group between Vietnam and Singapore is forecast to be very fierce.

In the remaining group, host Thailand, the seed of A group, will play against Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia.
