Nam Dinh: Sanfrecce Hiroshima produced a splendid second half display to cruise 3-0 past Nam Dinh FC of Vietnam in their AFC Champions League Two™ 2024/25 Round of 16 first leg tie on Wednesday.

Goals from Sota Nakamura, Satoshi Tanaka and Sota Koshimichi means the Japanese side have one foot in the quarter-finals, with Nam Dinh needing a strong performance to stand a chance of going through.
Sanfrecce made a fast start, needing only four minutes to make their presence felt when Shuto Nakano floated the ball for Shunki Higashi, whose shot went wide from inside the six-yard-box.
The home side responded two minutes later with China finding space off Hendrio’s layoff before pulling his effort wide of the left post.
Nam Dinh looked more threatening as the match progressed with China going close again in the 19th minute before Hendrio failed to find the target from inside the box just before the half-hour mark.
Sanfrecce wasted an opportunity in the 30th minute with Shunki Higashi missing his shot from inside the area as the score remained 0-0 going into the break.
Sanfrecce survived a scare at the hour mark when Brenner forced a brilliant save from Keisuke Osako after initially seeing his first two attempts foiled.
However, the J.League 1 side dug deep to find the opener in the 73rd minute after Ryo Germain sent Nakamura through on goal on the right flank for the forward to tuck the ball into the bottom left corner.
Sanfrecce tightened their grip after Tanaka doubled their advantage in the 88th minute with a powerful drive.
Koshimichi then made sure Sanfrecce took home a comfortable cushion after netting in stoppage time.
