Binh Duong: Vietnam began their AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ China 2026 Qualifiers with a dominant 5-0 win against Guam in their Group D tie on Monday.
Masahiko Okiyama’s side were in total control of the match, scoring twice in the first half before netting three more in the second half to take the victory.
Vietnam put Guam under intense pressure from the opening whistle but the East Asian side were able to fend off the persistent attacks until the 21st minute when a short goal kick saw Hope Hutapea lose possession to Nguyen Thi Minh Anh who fired home from close range.
The group hosts continued to pile on the pressure and doubled their lead in the 40th minute when Doan Thi Kim Chi’s cross from the left was teed nicely by Phan Thi Thu Phuong for Thi Minh Anh to smash past a stranded Ahela’ Kaae.
Vietnam did not let go of their hold on the game and increased their advantage nine minutes into the second half
Thi Minh Anh broke through on the right before cutting back for Le Thi Hong Thai who set up Ha Yen Nhi for a sidefooted finish into the top corner.
Vietnam added the fourth in the 73rd minute with Thi Minh Anh cutting in from the left before firing a shot from the edge of the box that was too hot for Kaae to handle. Thi Hong Thai nodded in the fifth in the 87th minute.
Wednesday’s tie will see Guam looking to bounce back against Hong Kong, China.
