Ho Chi Minh City: Skipper Nguyen Thi Thu Hien scored a double as Hosts Vietnam advanced into the semi-finals of the AFC U-14 Girls Regional Championship for the ASEAN region after downing Singapore 3-0 at Thong Nhat Stadium on Thursday.

Nguyen opened the scoring on 23 minutes before substitute Pham Dieu Linh who came on the pitch on 51 minutes doubled the lead four minutes later.
Nguyen completed her brace on 57 minutes and helped Vietnam finish second in four-nation Group A below the Philippines who beat Cambodia 5-0 in Thursday’s other match.
Favourites Vietnam, champions in the inaugural edition last year, were upset 1-0 the previous day by the Philippines, who finished well below in fourth position in the six-nation tournament last year.
Debutants and winless Singapore finished bottom of the group with Cambodia concluding their campaign third.
Vietnam will clash with the winners of Group B in the semi-finals on Saturday.
