The Ford Football Ferns have confirmed their first ever game in Ahuriri Napier as a warm-up international friendly match ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

After a 22-hour journey, at 4pm on April 3 (local time), the Vietnam women’s team landed at Trihbuvan airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, officially starting the journey at the Olympics Paris 2024.

According to the plan, on the afternoon of April 2, the Vietnam women’s team will leave for Nepal to play two matches in the first qualifying round of the Olympic Paris 2024. Before the departure date, today (March 30), VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan and VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu met and encouraged coach Mai Duc Chung’s team.

This afternoon (March 30), the Vietnam women’s team had the second friendly match against the former men’s team. Despite losing with the final result of 3-4, coach Mai Duc Chung’s players learned a lot of useful experiences.

According to the FIFA Ranking as of 24 March 2023, the Vietnamese women’s team has good news when increased 1 place, to 33rd place with 1643.66 points.

At the end of a 1-week training camp in Cam Pha (Quang Ninh), the Vietnam women’s team returned to the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center on the afternoon of March 18. The players had a day off before catching up to the next phase of the gathering.

March 11, the Vietnam women’s team had the first training session at Cam Pha Stadium (Quang Ninh).

2023 will be a busy year for Vietnamese women’s football with international tasks such as the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers, the 32nd SEA Games and especially the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. To prepare well for the tournaments, at the beginning of the year, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), head coach Mai Duc Chung and members of the coaching staff plan a detail schedule for each task.
