Iraq come from behind to beat Việt Nam
Iraq came from behind twice to overcome Việt Nam 3-2 in Group D of the Asian Cup 2019 yesterday.
Việt Nam took the lead in the 24th minute after Nguyễn Quang Hải’s through-ball to Công Phượng led sweeper Ali Faez to back-heel the ball into his own net.
Iraq’s midfield was stifled for the most part, but a mistake from Duy Mạnh led to the equaliser.
Taking the lead for a second time, Quang Hải’s cross was met by midfielder Trọng Hoàng whose shot was saved, only for Công Phượng to pounce on the rebound.
In the second half, Đức Chinh replaced Công Phượng but had little luck.
In the 59th minute, Ngọc Hải failed to prevent Humam Tareq Faraj from scoring to make it 2-2, and Ali Adnan scored a peach of a free kick in the 89th minute to finish the comeback for Iraq.
